ZT-webzine : Hi! Thanks for talking to us.
RC: My pleasure
ZT-webzine : Can you give me a small history of your Discography ?
RC: Well I have
been on a lot of stuff so I’ll give you the most important ones. The first being
the Revolution ep back in 92 this was my first real release very exciting. The
next would be my solo disc all instrumental guitar freak out and then I was part
of a project called Book of Reflections a cool prog kind of cd I did a bunch of
solos on that one and then Outworld’s debut which is some of my best stuff very
proud of that one.
ZT-webzine : What guitars do you own ? and What are your dream guitars?
RC: I have my
own signature guitar called the RC7 by Dean Guitars and that’s pretty much my
dream guitar I designed it down to the very last detail and they built it. I
also have a Conklin 8 string.
ZT-webzine : When did you start playing guitar ? have you took any Guitar's
Lessons ?
RC: On my 15th
birthday. I tried lessons but I could find any good teachers so I taught my self
through books and videos.
ZT-webzine : How have you progressed as a guitar player ? How do you look at the
music you play?
RC: Well you
get better with time as long as you keep working at it. Things get easier more
intuitive. I really don’t listen to my own music that much, it’s kind of weird
to me kind of like staring at yourself in the mirror
ZT-webzine : What is your favorite guitar technique, and what guitar technique
do you feel you need the most work on?
RC: I like all
of them. I probably need to work on my 8 finger tapping the most.
ZT-webzine : What's your favourite music? Who would you cite as influences?
RC: Metal is my
roots but my mood dictates what I’m into at the moment. Malmsteen, Becker,
Gilbert, Rhoads, Holdsworth, Lane, Meshuggah, Nevermore, Arch Enemy, Unearth,
Paganini, Chopin.
ZT-webzine : Can you tell us How did you get started creating instructional
material?
RC: I started
teaching when I was in high school so going from lesson to instructional content
was very easy.
ZT-webzine : What have the media and fans to say
about your solo debut cd ? Maybe you can describe some of the songs so we can
get an idea of what to expect?
RC: It’s got a
lot of great reviews and it’s currently being re-mixed and mastered and is going
to be re-released later this year. The cd is a guitar shred fest, I was trying
to do the most intense stuff that I could at the moment.
ZT-webzine : Where do you get your inspiration from to create the music of
OUTWORLD?
RC: I’m really
inspired by bands like Lamb of God, Nevermore, Unearth, Arch Enemy, Meshuggah.
ZT-webzine : Let's talk about your album "Outworld". Where did you record it ?
What kind of sound were you searching for ?
RC: The cd was
recorded at Spyder Studio in Houston , Texas. I was using my Rocktron Prophesy
Preamp, VHT power amp and Bogner Ubershcall
ZT-webzine : What is in the future for OutWorld?
RC: Hopefully a
kick ass record deal, touring and lots of money!!
ZT-webzine : Give me your opinion about those guys as guitar players .
Alex Skolnick : I
really liked Testament
Steve Smyth: I liked
what he did with Nevermore and his new instrumental project
Marc rizzo : I don’t
really know much about Marc
Jason Becker : A true
musical genius!
ZT-webzine : Do you have anything you would like to say to the readers of Zero
tolerance webzine ?
RC: Check out
Outworld!
ZT-webzine : What are your main plans ? Are there
any Projects in the near future?
RC: Just to
finish writing Outworld’s new cd and to get a record deal and tour. Also my new
signature Dean 7 string will be hitting the stores soon the RC 7
ZT-webzine : ZT-webzine : Thank you for taking the time to do this interview.
RC: Thanks
you!
