Wacken Open Air isn't just a festival for metalheads, it's THE festival. Since its first edition in 1990, with only six bands playing, the fest grew bigger and bigger, filling every year with metalheads the small town of Wacken, about 70 km from Hamburg.

None of the most important metal bands ever lost the occasion to play on one of the Wacken stages... just to name a few of the bands playing through the years, we can see names as

Motorhead, Angel Dust, Iced Earth, Dimmu Borgir, Grave Digger, In Flames, Gorgoroth, Europe, Venom, Sodom, Therion, Dark Tranquillity, Sonata Arctica, Twisted Sister, Opeth, Whitesnake... The billing never lets anyone down, so that everytime the festival is sold out since 2002.

The most impressive sold out has been right this year: on March 13, 140 days before the event, the tickets were already finished! This already tells everything about the importance of this year's bands which are going to rock Wacken's town out.

First of all, Iron Maiden are going to play only once in Germany this year, and this is going to be at Wacken! Their setlist is also gonna be amazing, containing some of their best classics: in lack of a new album to promote, the band will mainly play the 80's song which made them probably the most important metal band of all times.

A lot of finnish metal stars are also going to be there: Children of Bodom, Ensiferum, Sonata Arctica, Nightwish and Lordi would be enough to make happy anyone interested in this nation's bands.

What's more, extreme metal fans won't surely be disappointed! From the reunion of Carcass, to the thrash of Exodus and Kreator, and then Obituary, Massacre, Watain, Gorgoroth, Crematory... there's really enough for everyone.

Girschool, Avantasia, Kamelot, Opeth, Soilwork and Saltatio Mortis are just few of the awesome bands that will be possible to admire this year at Wacken.

This is going to be really an edition not to miss!

04.05.2008 :CASABLANCA FESTIVAL "B.J.M" 10th edition , JUNE 19/20/21/22, 2007 Stage of the C.O.C :

Boulevard started really as a small competition among local musiciens, a kind of a casablanca "Battle of the Bands". Spanning over the weekend, the first day is usually a RAp competition, the Second gathered Rock and Metal fans and the Last day included Gnawa bands and finally distribution of Prices. 10 years later, BJM grew to be a huge 4 day gathering, free to the public. This festival's name is now carved in the youth's minds and among the most appealing festivals here in Morocco. International bands also contribute to its reputation. After kreator (2005) and Moonspell (2006) and Paradise Lost (2007),and more this year will also be almost euphoric for the Moroccan Metalhead :

11.01.2008: Moroccan Metal FESTIVAL "SIDI ROCK" 2nd edition, February 23, 2008 :

In 2005, « Sidi Kacem » knew an exclusive event on Metal/Rock music, an edition organized by the initiative of BERBER Badr and the collaboration with bands: Anaconda, Black Wolves, Imperium, Metal Inc. and Mercy Killing. Having experienced a modest success, this did not prevent the association « Maison d’Art animé » by Badr himself and CHBIHI Amine to organize a second edition of the festival Sidi Rock to host young talent and a public thirsty for creativity and originality. Despite the many obstacles and drawbacks that represents such a consecration, organizers have taken action to advance the moroccan Rock/Metal scene offering a chance for young people to develop this kind of music.

The event will take place in the province of Sidi Kacem on February 23, 2008 in Dar Echabab; in the program, 8 groups from different moroccan regions will attend : DESPOTISM (Casablanca), ATMOSPHEAR (Rabat), DAMNED CREATION (Sidi Kassem), KREMATORIUM (Kenitra), FLOOD OF HATE (Kenitra), EPHEMERAL PROMISE (Rabat), SAKADOYA (Settat) and HAMMER HEAD (Kenitra).

All hope and expect a support, be it local authorities or organims and media, in order to devote them a humble place in the Moroccan music scene.

N’ayant connu qu’un modeste succès, cela n’a pas empêché l’association « Maison d’Art animé » par Badr lui-même et CHBIHI Amine d’organiser une seconde Edition du festival Sidi Rock pour accueillir des jeunes talents et un publique assoiffé de créativité et d’originalité. Malgré les nombreux obstacles et inconvénients que représente une telle consécration, les organisateurs ont pris l’action de faire progresser la scène Rock/Métal Marocaine en offrant une chance aux jeunes de développer ce genre
musical.

23.06.2007 : WACKEN FESTIVAL 2007

Wacken Open Air… a must in the life of every true metaller, more than a simple fest. From 17 years the name of W: O: A is sign of quality, quality that made this fest THE fest, if not for metal world, for European metal.

You simply have to go there at least once in your life, and anyway you can’t go wrong.
First Wacken edition has been in 1990. In the first years, minor bands dominated the bill, even thought big headliners were already on the scene - Blind Guardian and Saxon in 1993, Gamma Ray and Atrocity the following year... meanwhile, the number of bands increased from six in the first edition, until the more than 70 of the upcoming WOA. Last years of last century and the first of the present one marked the Wacken's growth in popularity and its consacration as best fest around. To name a few bands alternating on Wacken stage since in the last years; Dimmu Borgir, Grave Digger, In Flames, Motorhead, Sodom and Therion, Angel Dust, Iced Earth, Gorgoroth, Europe, Venom, Dark Tranquillity, Sonata Arctica, Twisted Sister, Opeth, Whitesnake... Year after year, the billing never lets anyone down, so that fans of every kind of metal come from the whole Europe - and from all around the world - to attend the concerts. The small town of Wacken, near Hamburg, becomes so in a few days of august a true paradise for metalheads.

This year, the festival area consists of a concert area, with 4 different stages to allow all the bands to play, and a camping area, where is possible to put tents some days before the beginning of the fest.
Three stages, two main and a smaller one, will give to the metal kids well know as historic band, while the “youngsters” will have their chance on the W.E.T. stage, stage that, after the shows end, will become the occasion for every singer wannabe around, thanks the metal karaoke and disco.

For Musically, as usual, 2007 edition has all to become another huge success: first of all, the reunion of one of the bands that made the history of black metal, Immortal, is going to happen. Plus, diehard black metallers will also be pleased by the presence of Norwegian Enslaved, 1349 and Kampfar, not to forget the new generation symphonic blacksters Dimmu Borgir. Those who prefer thrash doesn't have to be afraid, 'cause combos like Sodom and Destruction will make their joy. A good Viking atmosphere will be granted by Moonsorrow and Tyr. Iced Earth, Blind Guardian and Stratovarius will make this fest as sweet as ever for the power lovers. Even melodic death fans are going to be pleased, Swedish In Flames and finnish Norther will be taking their part in. Finally, Saxon and Rage with orchestra will make every nostalgic of old school melt! An edition really not to miss.
