Samir: What does "hour of penance" mean for you ?

Giulio : Hour0fPenance it's the best way to express my hate and anger through music . About the meaning of the expression "Hour of Penance" … it's something concerning a moment of purification in the catholic world or the moment in which you will be Sentenced to die.

Samir: When and were was ur meetin with the others members of the band?

Giulio : I'm friend of Mauro (the Drummer) since we were 14 years old.. in 2003 when Hour of Penance was looking for a guitarist I talked to him and after a sort of "audition" I joined the band.

Samir: How is everything going with your new album ?

Giulio : Everything is going really well. "Pageantry for Martyrs" it's receiving loads and loads of great reviews from the worldwide press and we're receiving more than positive comments in general about the album. We're fully satisfied with it.

Samir:What's the goals of your band in the future ?

Giulio : Currently we're working on new tunes that probably will be included in a Promo cd which we'll send only to the Labels since our Contract with Xtreemmusic has expired . For the future we will try to tour as much as we can, hopefully also there in Marocco!

Samir: How have the tours been going?

Giulio : the Tour with Krisiun and Putrefied was great! It was our first experience on tour so probably we will not forget any moment of it-

Samir: What would be the festival of your dreams ?

Giulio : hmm nice question! There's a lot of interesting Festival , especially here in Europe.. my favourite ones are FUCK THE COMMERCE , OBSCENE EXTREME , WACKEN (of Course) INFERNO FESTIVAL and every festival in the U.S!

Samir: What do you think of metal music, and what is your experience with it?

Giulio : I'm in the metal music since I was 11 and I'm currently in love with it. Personally I 've never liked some kind of metal as Power or Gothic..i found them really boring with that gay vocals and stupid solos, I'm more into Death metal , Brutal Death metal, Grind and Gore..

Samir: What hour of penance album do you personally like most?

Giulio : The last one , "Pageantry for Martyrs" , it's the most mature and brutal album since ever for what concern the composition

Samir: Who are the guitar players that influenced you? And can tell us about the band's influences?

Giulio : I don't know..i listen everyday thousand and thousand of death metal albums since I was 11 I can't give you my personal influences..i think that mostly comes from the nile Fast's riffing but since I started playing the guitar I have always tried to learn something from any band I listened to. About the band's influences.. in our record u can easily hear something taken from suffocation , something from nile and something from hate eternal but we try to be the most personal as we can in order to follow our own style.

Samir: Do you consider yourself so important to death metal?

Giulio : no Really. Probably who's reading this interview don't know me and either my band , but I try to "contribute" in taking alive the breath of Death Metal.. and this not only by playing in a band , but also by buying cds and supporting the scene

Samir: Let's talk about your songwriting .what's the kinds of your lyrics?

Giulio : I take care only of the "musical composition" of the songs.. Enrico the other guitarist write down the lyrics of the songs. Mostly trough our Lyrics we try to express our disgust towards the mankind and towards the most worst creation ever : Man.

Samir: If you 'll be invited to playing here in morocco, do you accepte about this invitation?

Giulio : yeah why not !

Samir: Did you hear something about "kreator" when they played here in morocco front of 20 000 persons ?

Giulio : no! Never heard it before ! I think it was amazing!

Samir: Any news about the shows ?

we will play in a festival here in italy with Deicide , Sinister , Regurgitate , Leng T'che and more ....

Samir: If you could tour the world with any band, who would it be ?

Giulio : there's a lot of great bands in the world.. probably Cannibal Corpse or Morbid Angel

Samir: What have the media and fans to say about your album "Disturbance"
and do you remember how many gigs did you do on that album?

Giulio : Since it was our debut album the media write down very positive comments and
reviews about it..i think it received something like 310 reviews in total
..thx also to Dave Rotten's work (the owner of Xtreemmusic rec. ) , about
the gigs we played 2 or 1 gigs per month for two years .We had really sick
time!

Samir: Do we have to wait a long time for the next Hour 0f Penance album?

We're just working on the new material..more fast more technical and we're
trying to put in our new songs a lot of groove in it , in order to blow away
your mind defenitely !

Samir: How did you get back into playing music?

I start play the guitar when i was 14 , 5 years ago

Samir: What albums made the biggest impact on your life?

I think the first album i have ever heard was Sepultura's Chaos A.D when it
came out.. i was really young and thanks to that album i got in love with
Death Metal and i started to play the guitar.

Samir: If you`ve the chance to change one day of your life. Which will it be and why?

Giulio : don't' know man.. I'm fully satisfied with my life at the moment so why change it?

Samir: Did you hear something about "Dubai festival" Testament and megadeth played there last time ?

Giulio : no I'm sorry man..

Samir: What was the favorite band you toured with?

Giulio : I think Krisiun also because they was the only band we toured with eheh..

Samir: What kind of festivals have you played ?

Giulio : The past years we played in loads of Great festival as the NRW in Germany , the Mountains of Death in Switzerland and Gotheburg DeathFest in Sweden.

Samir: What are your three favorite ever metal records?

Giulio : Angel Corpse - The Inexorable , Nile - Amongst the Catacomb of Nephren ka , Suffocation - Pierced from Within
